Apartment 105

Today marks 3 years living in this apartment. Our cozy, light-filled, corner of Vancouver is by-far our favourite place we've lived.

Also, I am very proud to say we've finally found plants that will survive in our apartment! It's north facing, so even though we get a lot of light it's not direct sunlight, so we've killed quite a few plants in the past 3 years. Our jade plant has been sitting pretty for over six months now, and for the last two months out snake plant & two pothos have been sprouting new leaves! We're very proud plant parents!

I just finished Gilmore Girls yesterday! I hadn't seen the entire series before - I missed a bit in the middle, and the last season. It's great. That's all there is to it. I was very happy with how everything turned out in the end. So was Corey. He actually watched the majority of the series with me - however made it very clear that he did not agree with some of the Gilmore Girls' choices.
Now I trying to figure out what to start next - fighting the urge to re-watch OTH for the hundredth time. I think I'll give The OC a shot. I've only seen the first two seasons, but I think it will fill my teen drama craving.

Been playing the new Mumford & Sons and Of Monsters & Men songs on repeat lately. If you haven't heard them, do yourself a favour. Major summer vibes. Makes me want to hop in the car, roll down the windows, and go for a long drive.
Also, the man in the Of Monsters & Men video totally reminds me of my Dad!

And I think I've finally made friends with yeast. I made Swirled Cheese Bread and Orange Cinnamon Pull Apart Bread the other weekend, and both turned out beautifully! I was thrilled! Will definitely be making more breads in the future.

Oh! And I almost forgot to tell you guys… Back in January Corey was considering joining a gym, and called a few places for membership rates. And he ended up having some girl calling him every other day for a week asking when he was going to come in and take a look at the gym. It was like his very own "I want to quit the gym" moment - except he wasn't even a member yet! If nothing else, it made me laugh.

How are you all doing?

Sending love,

Xo, A

  1. Alysia, I love your place! I still have to see it in person. Congratulations on your plants, too! I know how hard it can be to keep them happy and healthy. I particularly love the jade plant.
So proud of you for conquering yeast! Yay!
I was perusing your pinterest this morning because some days I just want to hop inside your "At the Cabin" or "Future Farm" boards. Just sayin'...

  2. Thanks! That's why I included a photo - now you can visualize where I'm typing this from...and my view from the kitchen.
I think I want to try my hand at sourdough next, making the starter and everything. However, I did find a cheater recipe that uses greek yogurt instead of a starter, and they say it's just as good. So I might try that first.
And I want to hop inside those boards most days myself! For now I'll just dream, one day real life resembles them a bit closer.
